Period Renovations

The photos below show a small part of the carpentry and building works carried out on the extensive internal and external renovation of this period property. Works commenced with the renovation of existing sash windows throughout this 5 storey building back to good working order. Numerous new sash windows were made by my joiner and fitted, fully in keeping with the original windows. The window frames also required a lot of carpentry work, with new sill sections inserted and rotten timbers replaced, cutting out and splicing in new sections. New beads and draught proof brushes fitted and adjustments to weights were carried out and everything primed and undercoated ready for decorators.

Subsequently the job expanded with a large amount of rendering work, requiring stainless steel mesh in large sections, to the rear of the property. The front of the building was also cleaned, working alongside a stonemason, transforming the exterior of this beautiful period building. A steam cleaner removed the worse of the dirt but the building was additionally cleaned with a spinner and re-pointed appropriately.

Additionally we carried out a lot of work on the roof, primarily lead work and parapet walls before carrying out complete internal refurbishment. On of the highlights of this job was the restoration of the first patent stove (albeit not working order) . All works co-ordinated by JS Carpentry and Build.
